About Mario Dalo

I’m Mario Dalo — digital entrepreneur, independent researcher, and the kind of person who reads archaeological papers for fun.

I’m based in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and I’ve been building web platforms since 2006 through Intercoper, the digital studio I founded. Over the years, Intercoper has grown into a network of editorial and travel platforms, each built around genuine expertise and a deep respect for the subject matter. You can read more about my work and background on my Intercoper author page.

What I Do

My professional life sits at the intersection of three things: web development, content strategy, and subject-matter research. I build platforms from the ground up — architecture, code, SEO, content — and I only publish on topics I’ve spent years studying or working in. That philosophy drives everything at Intercoper, whether it’s a travel guide or an automotive research site.

Rome: The Obsession That Started It All

My fascination with Rome began as a childhood obsession with gladiator stories and evolved into years of research, repeated visits, and hundreds of hours studying the archaeology and social history of the ancient world. In 2020, I channeled all of that into ColosseumRoman.com — a platform that now serves thousands of travelers with expert-curated tour recommendations, historical context, and original editorial content.

This blog, mariodalo.com, is where the deeper work lives. The original research, the historical analysis, the nerdy deep dives that don’t fit into a tour description. My core areas of focus include:

  • The Colosseum (Flavian Amphitheater): Engineering, gladiatorial combat, the hypogeum, and the monument’s turbulent afterlife through the Middle Ages and beyond.
  • Ancient Rome: Political intrigue, social structures, archaeological discoveries, and what the Forum and Palatine Hill can still teach us.
  • The Vatican: Art, architecture, the evolution of the Papacy, and the layers of history hidden inside the world’s smallest sovereign state.

Beyond Rome

I’m expanding this blog to cover broader topics I care about — technology, digital entrepreneurship, and the intersection of AI and content creation. After nearly two decades of building web businesses, I have perspectives worth sharing on how independent creators can compete, build authority, and deliver real value in an increasingly noisy digital landscape.

Why Trust What I Write

I’ve spent 18+ years building web platforms and over a decade specializing in Roman history. I’m not an academic — I’m a practitioner who does the research, visits the sites, and builds the tools. Everything I publish here is based on primary sources, direct experience, or documented expertise. Where I reference work from the Intercoper team, I say so.

Other Projects

Beyond Rome, I’ve developed a small number of focused platforms:

Each project follows the same principle: deep research, practical insights, and curated recommendations.
